Voucher Program

Public Transportation is important...but Newaygo doesn’t have it...yet!

The New Freedom Transportation Voucher Program is ready to help people with disabilities get where they need to go.

Disability Connection/West Michigan has been awarded a federal grant through the New Freedom transportation project and is currently operating an ongoing transportation voucher program.

What is this                                                 "Transportation Voucher” program?

Disability Connection’s Voucher Program is a mileage reimbursement program funded through the Federal New Freedom Transportation Project. The program is funded 50% by New Freedom and 50% through local funding. When an approved rider/driver submits vouchers, Disability Connection/West Michigan will issue a check to the approved driver. If you are a person with a disability trying to achieve independent living goals please consider applying for this program.

The Disability Connection/West Michigan Transportation Voucher Program serves persons with disabilities of all ages. It is a program that demonstrates an alternative model for transportation in Newaygo County.  An approved rider will use a voucher to reimburse their chosen and approved driver for miles used to take them where they need to go.
